Know your real profit: a simple guide to Sellrika reports

A busy day feels good. But was it a good day? Sales tell you how much money came in. Profit tells you how much you kept. The Reports page in Sellrika shows both, for the POS and the online store together.

Pick a period

Open Sales › Reports. Click Today, Yesterday, 7 days, Last week, This month, Last month, This year or Custom. Every number follows your shop's own time zone. So "today" starts at midnight in your shop, not on your laptop.

The eight numbers

  • Net revenue: sales minus refunds.
  • Orders: how many orders were made.
  • Avg. order: what one order brings in, on average.
  • Items sold: how many units left the shop.
  • Gross profit: what you kept, with the margin in percent.
  • Discounts: what you gave away in discounts.
  • Tax collected: tax you must pass on.
  • Refunds: money given back.

Under each number you see the change from the period before, like "▲ 12% vs previous period".

How profit is worked out

  1. Start with net revenue.
  2. Take away what the sold products cost you.
  3. Take away the tax. It is not your money.

What is left is your gross profit.

One important tip: the cost comes from the Purchase price of each product. If a product has no purchase price, its cost counts as zero, and your profit looks too high. The card warns you when this happens. Fill in the purchase price on your products to see your true profit.

Find patterns

  • Sales chart: one bar per day, week or month. Refunds show in red.
  • Busiest hours: when people buy. Plan your staff around it.
  • Top products: your 10 best sellers, with returns.
  • Sales by cashier, by payment method and by category.
  • Top customers: the 10 people who spent the most. Maybe send them a thank-you code.

Get the day's numbers in your chat

Do not want to open the app every evening? Sellrika can send a daily report to Slack, Discord, LINE or Telegram.

  1. An admin switches on Chat alerts under Settings › Extensions and adds a channel.
  2. On the Reports page, click the gear button next to the title.
  3. Switch on Send a daily report and pick a time after you close.
  4. Tick the channels and click Save.

Each day you get the sales, orders, refunds, profit, the top 5 products and the payment methods.

Good to know

  • Voided orders are left out of every number.
  • A refund counts on the day of the refund. The sale stays on the day of the sale.
  • Admins and managers can see reports. Cashiers can not.
